Wynfield Waves week of 6/28 AND Meet Info for 6/29
Week of 6/29
Waves Families,
As the end of June approaches, we are also entering the last 2 weeks of summer swim season. We have 2 regular meets remaining (tomorrow, 6/29, and next Monday, 7/6) as well as the championship meet on Saturday, 7/11. Please make sure you have your swimmers signed in/out of ALL remaining meets (including champs) by this Wednesday, 7/1.
We will continue to offer both morning and afternoon practices for the next 2 weeks. While we know that summer schedules can be challenging and are constantly changing, we do encourage our families to try to make it to morning practices. During the morning practices our team has access to the entire pool, and the coach to swimmer ratio is much better.
Speedy Meet Families: Although all speedy meet competitions have ended, we will continue to welcome your swimmers to practice to continue to work on building skills. Our morning speedy practice time is from 8:15-8:45. If you need to attend the afternoon practice, please be sure to use SignUpGenius to claim a spot in either Session 1 or Session 2 for afternoon practices: Speedy meet practice sign up (No sign up needed for morning practices.)

Speedy Meet Swimmers: This week coaches will continue to reinforce skills for freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Swimmers will continue to work on dives and may play some games!
10 & Under: This week we will continue to work on all 4 strokes. We will also work on starts and finishes, and relay exchanges.
11 & Up: This week we plan to get a bit of sprint work in on all 4 strokes, along with a focus on tightening up our streamlines on starts and turns, and picking up speed on our turns. We will also focus on starts and finishes, including relay starts.
IMPORTANT REQUEST for REGUALR meet swimmers:
- Swim meet declarations: please declare your swimmer(s) for the remaining meets, including champs.
- Swimmers should be declared no later than Wedesday, 7/1, for the meet on Monday, 7/6.
- ALL SWIMMERS SHOULD INDICATE THEIR AVAILABILITY FOR CHAMPS. Even if your swimmer has not yet made an automatic qualifying time, it is important to declare their availability so we as coaches can begin building relays for champs this week.

AT THE MEET:- Please help your child set up a space in our team area. We really need parental support for this. It is very important that swimmers sit together to support each other and to make sure they don't miss an event.
- Help keep our team area clean. ALL swimmers should help clean up our team area before leaving.
- Volunteers will check in at table at the pool entrance. ALL timers (1st and 2nd session) need to attend the timers meeting that happens prior to the start of the meet.
- Concessions available include: See email from Penny. We have a great opportunity to end the year strong with a fundraising event at this event. Concessions include hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, pizza, fries, sweet potato fries, candy, and chips, Payments accepted are cash and venmo.
- Please DO NOT leave if your swimmer is in a relay. If a swimmer must leave early, please notify Coach Tiffany or Coach Kristina as soon as possible so that we try to prevent scratching relays.
Marking your swimmer:
Mark the arm as illustrated below in the picture in the order of Event/Heat/Lane/Relay Leg. Write on clean dry skin with no sunscreen. It is best to do this the night before in order to minimize sunscreen washing it away.- Find your child’s race information on the Heat Sheets, the entry sheets, or the SwimTopia App.
- Label your swimmers with a black sharpie with their race details.
- On their forearm, mark their event information: (See further below for Stroke labels)
(E = event, H = heat, L = lane). For relays, add a slash followed by the position on the relay after the lane# (1, 2, 3 or 4)E Another option:
A note about weather: We are crossing our fingers that we are able to make it through the season without weather interrupting our meets, but want to share weather pertinent information with you just in case!
1-Please make sure you are on the remind app. If we need to adjust times during the meet because of weather, that will be our first and immediate form of communication. Please keep in mind the following:
2-In the event of a thunder delay, swimmers and spectators are allowed to stay on the deck but not in the water.
3-In the event of lighting, it is possible that we will be asked to clear the deck. If that happens, we will ask families to wait in their cars until either the storm has passed or we have made a final decision to cancel the event.
