This week's focus in the pool:

Speedy Meet Swimmers: This week coaches will continue to reinforce skills for freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke. For swimmers who show a basic understanding of these strokes, we will begin introducing butterfly.

10 & Under: This week we will continue to work on butterfly, but will also focus on some of the more technical components of freestyle (breathing and streamlines), backstroke (arm entry position), and breaststroke (pullouts). We will also work on starts and finishes.

11 & Up: This week we plan to get a bit of sprint work in, along with a focus on tightening up our streamlines on starts and turns, and picking up speed on our turns.

IMPORTANT REQUEST for REGUALR meet swimmers:

  • Swim meet declarations: please declare your swimmer(s) for the remaining meets, including champs.
    • All athletes should be declared no later than Monday, 6/16 for this Thursday’s meet.
    • Swimmers should be declared no later than Thursday, 6/19, for the meet on Monday, 6/16.
  • ALL SWIMMERS SHOULD INDICATE THEIR AVAILABILITY FOR CHAMPS. Even if your swimmer has not yet made an automatic qualifying time, it is important to declare their availability so we as coaches can begin building relays for champs this week.
(The following is for REGULAR meet swimmers only. Reminder: no speedy meet practice tomorrow night because of the meet.)

      • *If you are new to swimming or need a refresher on how to mark your swimmer, see specific instructions below.
    WHAT TO BRING:
    • Team Suit
    • Goggles (and extras if you have them)
    • Cap
    • DRY TOWELS!
    • ***Healthy Snacks***
    • Water
    • Deck chairs for the adults
*REMINDER: NO GLASS CONTAINERS ALLOWED ON DECK
    AT THE MEET:
    • Please help your child set up a space in our team area. We really need parental support for this. It is very important that swimmers sit together to support each other and to make sure they don't miss an event.
    • Help keep our team area clean. ALL swimmers should help clean up our team area before leaving.
    • Volunteers will check in at table at the pool entrance. ALL timers (1st and 2nd session) need to attend the timers meeting that happens prior to the start of the meet.
    • Concessions available include: Pizza, chicken tenders, hot dogs, chips and candy. Payments accepted are cash and venmo.
    • Please DO NOT leave if your swimmer is in a relay. If a swimmer must leave early, please notify Coach Tiffany or Coach Kristina as soon as possible so that we try to prevent scratching relays.
    • ***This is the first meet this year where we have a number of athletes "swimming up" to an older age group on relays. This is not an entry error. We do this to maximize the opportunities for our athletes to participate in relays. Please reach out to coach Tiffany if you have any questions.

    Marking your swimmer:
Mark the arm as illustrated below in the picture in the order of Event/Heat/Lane/Relay Leg. Write on clean dry skin with no sunscreen. It is best to do this the night before in order to minimize sunscreen washing it away.
    • Find your child’s race information on the Heat Sheets, the entry sheets, or the SwimTopia App.
    • Label your swimmers with a black sharpie with their race details.
    • On their forearm, mark their event information: (See further below for Stroke labels)
    E
    (E = event, H = heat, L = lane). For relays, add a slash followed by the position on the relay after the lane# (1, 2, 3 or 4)
    Another option:

A note about weather: We are crossing our fingers that we are able to make it through the season without weather interrupting our meets, but want to share weather pertinent information with you just in case!
1-Please make sure you are on the remind app. If we need to adjust times during the meet because of weather, that will be our first and immediate form of communication. Please keep in mind the following:
2-In the event of a thunder delay, swimmers and spectators are allowed to stay on the deck but not in the water.
3-In the event of lighting, it is possible that we will be asked to clear the deck. If that happens, we will ask families to wait in their cars until either the storm has passed or we have made a final decision to cancel the event.
