Tomorrow's Swim Meet (6/13)

(This email is for REGULAR MEET SWIMMERS.)

*PLEASE NOTE-TOMORROW'S CONCESSIONS ARE CASH ONLY

Good Evening Wynfield Families,

Tomorrow's meet is AWAY at River Run! Entries for tomorrow are strategically different than they have been for the past few meets.  We have done our best to make sure that swimmers who are close in a particular event to achieving an automatic time for Champs are entered in that event. Automatic times for Champs are located on our website in the "Champs" section.

Please reach out to us at [email protected] if you have any questions or last minute changes in availability for your swimmer. Here's everything you need to know for tomorrow's meet:

A few notes from the River Run Team:

PARKING:. There will be limited parking inside the pool parking lot, so street parking will be required. Please follow the signs and only park on one side of the street to not block thru traffic. Please see attachment for reference.
SWIMMERS: Visiting team swimmers will sit on the left side under the blue awning. Home team swimmers will sit on the right side.
SPECTATOR VIEWING/SEATING: Seating is on a first come - first serve basis when gates open at 5:00pm. There will be no early entrance to the pool deck. Camping chairs are encouraged for parent seating. Please see attachment for viewing areas.
VOLUNTEER CHECK IN: There will be a table just through the breezeway, under the blue shade kite for volunteers to check in.
CONCESSIONS: The Cabana Snack Bar will be open for cash and member charge sales. There will be a variety of foods such as chicken bites, pizza slices, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, assorted snacks/candy, and drinks. Please note: River Run is unable to charge back to other clubs so visiting teams will need cash for snack bar sales.

PREPARING FOR THE MEET:

  • Write your swimmer’s name (first and last) and age on their right shoulder/upper back.
  • Mark their events on their arms or the back of their hands. (Heat sheets will be emailed out and posted on our website by 2:00 pm tomorrow. Entries will also be visible on the SwimTopia App by that time.)
    • *If you are new to swimming or need a refresher on how to mark your swimmer, see specific instructions below.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Extra towels and warm clothes! Keeping muscles warm between events help improve times and prevent injuries. Please encourage your swimmer(s) to bring and wear sweatshirts/pants, parkas, dry towels, etc. between events!
  • Team Suit
  • Goggles (and extras if you have them)
  • Cap
  • DRY TOWELS!
  • Healthy Snacks
  • Water, Water, and More Water!  PLEASE help your swimmer stay hydrated during tomorrow's meet!
  • Deck chairs for the adults

*REMINDER: NO GLASS CONTAINERS ALLOWED ON DECK

AT THE MEET:

  • Please help your child set up a space in our team area. We really need parental support for this. It is very important that swimmers sit together to support each other and to make sure they don't miss an event.
  • Please DO NOT leave if your swimmer is in a relay. If a swimmer must leave early, please notify Coach Tiffany or Coach Kristina as soon as possible so that we try to prevent scratching relays.
  • If your swimmer is listed on a relay outside of their normal age group it is not an error. Throughout the season we will "swim up" swimmers into older relays when we are short on swimmers in that age group. It's a fun way for some of our younger swimmers to get a chance to swim with the "big kids"--and sometimes even the coaches!
  • Make sure you have your phone with the remind app downloaded. In the event that we have to communicate meet changes due to weather during the meet, we will use the Remind app as our main means of communication.

Finally, get ready to cheer!!! GO WAVES!!!!!

~Coach Tiffany

Marking your swimmer:

Mark the arm as illustrated below in the picture in the order of Event/Heat/Lane/Relay Leg. Write on clean dry skin with no sunscreen. It is best to do this before arriving to minimize sunscreen washing it away. However, we are always willing to help poolside before the meet if you need assistance!

  • Find your child’s race information on the Heat Sheets, the entry sheets, or the SwimTopia App.
  • Label your swimmers with a black sharpie with their race details.
  • On their forearm, mark their event information: (See further below for Stroke labels)
E

(E = event, H = heat, L = lane). For relays, add a slash followed by the position on the relay after the lane# (1, 2, 3 or 4)
