TIME TRIALS INFO--please read before attending time trials tomorrow
This email/announcement is for REGULAR MEET SWIMMERS only.
Tomorrow (Tuesday, 6/1) will be time trials for our regular meet swimmers. Your swimmer may attend the morning session or the afternoon session. Please follow these instructions to insure that time trials run smoothly. Also, be sure to pack a extra towels, as swimmers will be in and out of the pool between "events" and it will be quite chilly for the morning practice (low - mid 60's)!
MORNING TIME TRIALS
For tomorrow, all swimmers need to come to the time designated for the age as of June 1st.
- 10 & under: 8:45-9:30
- 11 & up: 9:15-10:15
Before arriving at the pool, please do the following:
1. Check to see if your phone is compatible with our swimmingly timing system. Timers can use either iOS or Android devices. Check this list to make sure your device will work (Android list is at the bottom of the page): https://swimmingly.app/device-compatibility
2. If you have a phone that will allow you to time, please download the blue SWIMMINGLY app on your phone. This is the app that volunteers will use to time this year. Times will automatically be synced to the app, thus eliminating any need to write times down!
3. If time allows, it would be wonderful for you to view the timing swimmingly training video before time trials. We will walk you through this tomorrow, but the videos are helpful for getting a good preview of how our new meet system will work!
I suggest watching the first 8 minutes of the timing video. For parents who have signed up to time at our meets, it might be worth watching the full training video before the first meet to feel most comfortable with the app. The video can be found here: https://swimmingly.app/training/ (Scroll down until you see "Swimmingly APP", and then choose "timer" on the left-hand side.)
3. Make sure your phone is updated to insure its compatibility with the app.
4. Make sure your phone is fully charged.
5. Mark up your swimmer: Write their first name, last name, and swimmingly ID number on the back of their shoulder with a sharpie. You can find your swimmer's ID number by logging onto the swimmingly website (https://swimmingly.app/) and looking at your kids' info. You can also download the Swimmingly Fan App (the black swimmingly app) and find info their. Swimmingly Fan will be your go-to for live meet results and for your swimmers' times. Swimmer ID numbers are all 3 digits, and will start with a "0". You will need these numbers all season long, so it might be useful to record them in an easy to find place--on a home calendar, a note in your phone, etc. I'm attaching a picture of my son all marked up for reference!
Afternoon Time Trials:
- Time trials will take place during our now regularly scheduled afternoon practice time, from 6:30-7:30.
- Since this practice includes swimmers of all age groups, we will need lots of parent volunteers to make sure we run a smooth time trial.
As of tonight, we do not plan to use the swimmingly app for the PM session due to the complications of mixed age groups. We will use stopwatches and paper to record times, and will need at least 2-3 parent timers per lane.
- Please do your best to have your swimmer to practice on time (6:30) so that we can start promptly and all swimmers have a chance to complete time trials.
- Mark up your swimmer: Write their first name, last name, and swimmingly ID number on the back of their shoulder with a sharpie. As always, thank you for reading and partnering with us to make this season fantastic!
