Champs Info

Dear Parents,

I am attaching anything and everything you need to know about tomorrow's Championship meet.  Please read carefully and let me know if I missed anything or if you have any additional questions.  And remember to encourage your swimmer(s) are drinking plenty of water, eat a good dinner (Carbs are a good choice tonight!), get a solid night's rest, and eat a healthy meal before the meet tomorrow!

Parking:  Please see attachment with parking map.


Where to sit:  When entering the pool (facing the diving well), our team will be sitting on the right-side of the pool (closest to lane 1), near the entrance to the pool.  If in doubt, just look for our colorful Wynfield banners and posters from this morning!


What to bring:  
  • Team suit, cap, and goggles
  • Towels, clothes for staying dry and warm between events
  • Water bottle (hydration is important) and healthy snacks.  

Arrival Times and Procedures:

  • AM SESSION, Age Groups: 8 under, 9-10:
    • Arrive no later than 7:45 (HFFA will begin admitting people beginning at 7am. Keep in mind that parking will be tricky, and you may need to allow time for parking and walking.)
    • 7:30-8:10:
      • Swimmers check in with Coach John, Coach Emily, and Coach Bri. Coach Tiffany will be in a coaches meeting. Swimmers get set up in their area, make sure events are marked, etc.
      • Volunteers Check-in at Volunteer table prior to 8:15
    • 8:15: Team meeting
    • 8:25:  Warm-ups (lanes 5 & 6) (*Relays will begin gathering immediately following warm-ups.)
    • 8:40: AM Volunteer Meeting (Stroke and Turn, Timers, Clerk of Course)
    • 9:00 AM--MEET BEGINS!
    • Order of Events:  The order of events for champs is a bit different.  We swim ALL RELAYS FIRST. So, we will swim events 1-4, 31 & 32, 61 & 62, then return to event 11.  The last event of the morning session will be event 54. 
  • PM SESSION, Age Groups: 11-12, 13-14, 15-18: 
    • Arrive no later than 10:45  (*Due to the change in schedule and the elimination of a lunch-break, it will most likely be very difficult to find parking since the AM swimmers may still be at HFFA. Please keep in mind that parking will be tricky, and that you will need to allow time for parking and walking.)
    • 10:30-11:10: 
      • Swimmers check in with Coach John, Coach Emily, or Coach Bri (We will still be coaching the morning session, so please check-in with the designated coach in the Wynfield area)
      • Volunteers check in prior to 11:15
    • 11:15: Team meeting
    • 11:25: Warm-ups (lanes 7 & 8) (*Relays will begin gathering immediately following warm-ups.)
    • 11:40: PM Volunteer Meeting (Stroke and Turn, Timers, Clerk of Course)
    • 12:00 PM--MEET BEGINS!
    • Order of Events: The order of events for champs is a bit different. We swim ALL RELAYS FIRST. So, we will swim events 5-10, 63-68, then return to event 15. The last event of the afternoon session will be event 60.
