Weekly Announcements and meet info

Dear Parents,

Congrats to all of our swimmers on some fantastic swimming at this past week’s meets! And thank you to all of the parents who volunteers, chipped in, cheered, and supported our team! Please enjoy this week’s slightly shorter email!

Re-cap from last week:

Younger swimmers continued to work on freestyle and backstroke technique, and began working on breaststroke. Thursday's and Saturday's meet showed improved times and many less DQ's in backstroke and breaststroke!

Older swimmers worked on starts, turns, conditioning, and butterfly!

Preview for this week:

Younger swimmers will continue to work on starts and finishes while adding in more distance to our workout. We will continue to work on breaststroke, and will begin working on Butterfly on Tuesday.

Older swimmers will focus on conditioning this week and incorporating solid starts and turns into our daily workouts.

REQUESTS:

  • WE NEED HELP!!! Tomorrow's meet will be hot, and we want to make sure to keep our swimmers cool and safe from overheating. We need 2 volunteers to bring canopies and help set them up before the meet begins. Please email Heather Culm ([email protected]) if you can bring a canopy and set it up at 4:50.
  • PLEASE look at your calendars and sign your swimmers out of any meets that conflict with other summer plans https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSepvF3VSM... This is VERY IMPORTANT as the entry of 1 swimmer directly affects how a number of other swimmers are placed in relays.
  • If your child is a speedy meet swimmer, or a beginning swimmer, we encourage you to attend the morning practice if it works with your schedule. Since the morning practice session is divided by age groups, the coaches are not spread amongst all 5 age-groups, and multiple coaches are focusing on multiple lanes. Younger children also tend to focus better in the morning, and will have less distractions around the pool in the morning practice. We definitely understand that work and camp schedules might mean that evening practices are the best fit for your family, so please know that we will do our best to meet the needs of your swimmer in both practices!
